Benzinga.com -- T Boone Pickens does not understand the political rhetoric centering expensive energy. He believes the United States already have the cheapest energy in the world--and politicians need to do a better job to communicate that.
A huge proponent of the Natural Gas Plan, Pickens detailed to CNBC's Squawk Box how the US natural gas supply, the largest in the word by far, holds the key to the country's energy independence from current gas pressures.

Heck, I've seen an idiot throw a LIT cigarette into a bucket of diesel and NOTHING happened--ok, the cigarette went out, that was it. Even heard someone talk about them welding (!) some tank on a big truck WITH the diesel in the tank. Gasoline? ummm... wouldn't want to mix gasoline (or even NG) up with diesel.

Actually, NG is much safer than gasoline. It has a limited range of flammability, meaning it requires the correct mixture of air and fuel to burn—somewhere in the 5 to 15 percent range, and an ignition temperature of approximately 1100 degrees F. Compare that to gasoline and diesel fuel which both have lower concentrations of flammability and lower temperatures of ignition. Fuel Density.... Natural gas is lighter than air. If a leak were to develop, the gas would rise and disperse through the atmosphere giving little chance for ignition. Compare that to gasoline and diesel fuel, both of which are dense liquids that tend to pool and are easily ignitable.

Will we have to pay world prices for a domestic product? Right now, it is not the preferred transportation fuel. I saw on TV news today that Chrysler is coming out with a pickup truck that runs on CNG and possibly gasoline too. Will be sold to the public by July this year. They now will join the Honda Civic GX for CNG vehicles. As for exporting natural gas, LNG is the gas that refineries want to export to other countries.

Its just the unreasoning fear of the stuff that causes the price to be high. Nuclear operationally costs only 0.83 cents per KWH which is the equivalent of NG at 25 cents per therm energy equivalent. If the efficiency of combined cycle power generation is taken into account, that drops to 15 cents per therm which is well below wholesale NG prices.

Coal for large scale energy production is still the best way for that sector of our energy needs and that needs to be kept in the formula while alternate energy sources supplement gas and oil for smaller applications.

My home runs 24-7 and heats on natural gas yet costs less to heat in energy than my car I only drive for 80 minutes a day. My house wastes far more energy to keep me warm all day than my idiot car does to take me to work. How friggin stupid do individuals need to be? There's a reason houses heat with Natural Gas. It's cheaper morons! A second stupid is "Why aren't we appling it to cars? Have any of you have any idea how much energy a house wastes? If not truly stupid! I don't want any subsidies for it or any other industry. With fair competition the cream will rise to the top. Fair competition means being able to drill domestically for oil as well.
